why i write.

I never really fancied myself a writer. I didn’t really think I had that much to say. Those who know me best will probably disagree with me on that one, but I just realized one day the freedom that writing, that art itself, can give a person. It allows me the ability to create my own canvass and color it anyway I please.  Writing gives me a chance to contribute, a chance to say what is on my mind.So these are the reasons…

This is why i write:

I write because Professor Diven didn’t think I was a good enough writer to pass me through a writing class at GVSU. It gave me the motivation to be better.

I write because things bug me.

I write because it makes me feel good.

I write because I love sports and I have my own space to discuss it.

I write because I have a million thoughts in my head at any given moment and writing is the best remedy for organization of those thoughts.

I write because it allows me to create something new. It is always exciting for me to start with a blank page and create something worthwhile on it.

I write because, as much as I love politics, it annoys me sometimes and i get to talk about it here.

I write because there are religious zealots in my community and probably yours that demand attention.

I write because of the satisfaction I get from hearing people say “I never thought of it that way” or better yet, “you said what I have been thinking.” There is no better satisfaction for me as a writer than that.

I write because I want people to think for themselves. Sometimes we all just need a nudge to get our minds stimulated.

I don’t want to use this site for useless chatter and nonsense. I also don’t mean it as an angry site where I get to blast anyone who gets in my way. This space to me represents a freedom, a blank canvass to express myself in any form I choose. I get to cultivate my work, I get to challenge myself and I get to open other people’s eyes as I go along. If you like to read my stuff on here, thank you. I appreciate your support. It goes a long way.
